According to “Rzeczpospolita” in 2022, respective 1000 Polish soldiers took off their uniform. A full of 8988 professional soldiers and 7962 soldiers of the Territorial Defence Army had said goodbye to the army. In addition, in the first period of 2023 more than 4,000 professional soldiers left the Polish army.
According to the journal, we are dealing with an unprecedented wave of leaving the army. The number of decisions to take off the uniform increased by almost 50% in 2022 compared to 2021. Meanwhile, in the year 2021 alone, 6 165 professional soldiers said goodbye to the army. This was the worst consequence since PiS took over Poland in 2015. It is besides worth mentioning that at that time about 5,000 WOT soldiers resigned. As many as 1,925 (31.2%) of the exempt professional soldiers did not get pension rights.
In 2021, the actual number of professional soldiers increased by only 3,486 military soldiers and amounted to 113,586 soldiers at the end of the year. According to MON, about 164,000 soldiers presently service in the Polish Army. However, it is worth noting that Minister Mariusz Błaszczak thus defines all persons "under arms". According to the Rzeczpospolita information, this figure includes all those who have chosen voluntary essential military service, so there are besides students of military colleges and those who have chosen to pass the Academic Legion at a civilian university. This means that, contrary to the statements of Minister Błaszczak, the increase in the individual position of the Polish army is progressing at a highly unsatisfactory pace.
These data, in the context of the transfer of undetermined but crucial quantities of arms to Ukraine, call into question the operational capacity of the Polish Army. Thus, the Law and Justice party, most likely the loudest-declaring request to defend themselves against the threat of the Russian Federation, led to the actual disarmament and functional paralysis of the Polish army. So we are dealing with a gigantic ineptness or gross betrayal of national interests.
