On Wednesday (5.04.2023) the president of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenski together with his wife Olena Zelenska pay an authoritative visit to Poland. This is the first authoritative abroad visit of the Ukrainian presidential couple since Russian aggression to Ukraine. The authoritative welcome ceremony was held in the courtyard of the Presidential Palace. The guests were welcomed by president Andrzej Duda with her spouse Agata Kornhauser–Duda.
President Andrzej Duda decorated Zelenski with the Order of the White Eagle. As we read in the justification on the President.pl website, the award was presented in designation of the remarkable merits of deepening friendly and comprehensive relations between Poland and Ukraine, for developing cooperation for democracy, peace and safety in Europe and integrity to defend inalienable human rights.
During the ceremony, president Duda pointed out that the Order of the White Eagle is the oldest and most valuable Polish discrimination and is presented to exceptional people who, with their lives, with their public service, have done their work in exceptional merits for the Republic, in a wide sense, besides in the sense of the neighbourhood and what surrounds it.
– There is no uncertainty that you are, Mr. President, a Volodymir, an absolutely peculiar man. president Duda stressed. – Watching your service to your homeland is hard to hide tears of emotion. You have not abandoned Ukraine or your countrymen, the defenders of your homeland in the most hard situation in the past of Ukraine, against the aggression that would destruct your country, your people – he added.
