I will appoint Robert Telus as Minister of Agriculture and Janusz Cieszynski as Minister of Digitization – announced president Andrzej Duda on Radio 3 and added that Janusz Cieszynski would become the fresh Minister of Digitalism.
The head of the Ministry of Agriculture was assigned to Telus after Henryk Kowalczyk resigned.
– Since it is very clear that the basic request of farmers will not be met by the European Commission, I made a decision and resigned as Minister of Agriculture and agrarian improvement – on Wednesday (5.04.2023) Kowalczyk stated during the press conference. In his statement, Kowalczyk pointed out that "one of the points of the Agricultural circular Table Agreement was the commitment to request the European Commission to launch a safeguard clause on duty-free and quota-free imports of cereals from Ukraine". He besides stated that specified a request was sent to the European Commission on 31 March by the Polish government together with the governments of Slovakia, Romania, Hungary and Bulgaria.
Kowalczyk's successor, Robert Telus, has been associated with the PiS organization since 2007. In October 2019, he was elected from the list of PiS as MP of the 9th Sejm word (2019-2023). In Parliament, he became head of the Committee on Agriculture and agrarian Development,and has been a associate of the Council of Political Advisors of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki since 2021.
Referring to the appointment of Cieszynski to the position of Minister of Digitization, the president pointed out that the politician was “taking care of these matters”.
– The Prime Minister told me that he had gained so much assurance in him, including his professionalism and skills and cognition that he could easy entrust this office to him fully said Duda.
Cieszyn is simply a financier by education. He was employed as an advisor to Deputy Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at the Ministry of improvement and the Ministry of Finance, and in 2016–2017 he headed the Department of tiny and average Enterprises at the Ministry of Development. From 2016 to 2018 he chaired the Supervisory Board of the Export Credit Insurance corp S.A. From 2018 to 2020, he served as Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Health, from 2020 to 2021 Vice president of Chełm, and from 2021 as Secretary of State in the Chancellery of the Prime Minister of the Council of Ministers.
