The Evangelical community in Kurhessen-Waldeck (the alleged Evangelical Church) announced that its pastor blessed people in the alleged polyamoric union, or made up of respective people. For pastoral reasons, no more detailed information was provided.
So-called. The Evangelical Church in Germany is simply a very different structure. Evangelical communities are divided into 20 separate, highly self-government communities. The Communities make any decisions together, but in this case they did not. The blessing of alleged polyamorical compounds is presently practiced – as far as it is officially known – only in one. The Community is based in Kassel and covers a large part of Hesse and Szmalkaldy in Thuringia.
According to the Evangelical community, her pastor decided to bless specified a relation due to the fact that it is guided by “the quality of the relationship, not the number of people who make it.”
The function of the “bishop” in the “Church” of the Evangelical Kurhessen-Waldeck is played by Mrs.Bethe Hofmann.
The community is rapidly dying out. In 2024, 41 70 children were baptized, but the burials were 13,240. By joining the people who left, the community lost 3.2% of the faithful in 2024 (from 710 518 people to 687 526).
The Evangelical press agency asked another German evangelical communities whether they allowed the blessing of the relationships of respective people. Only the community from Württemberg categorically rejected it, another communities pointed to the individual work of the pastor or stated that the question was theoretical due to the fact that specified problems do not happen in actual pastoralism.
Interestingly, the evangelical press agency besides conducted a poll, asking the Germans what they think about blessing the relationships of respective people. Among the Protestants, the majority opposed it. Among Catholics, however, only 50 percent of the respondents expressed strong opposition. In terms of political divisions, the most opposed to specified blessings are the AfD voters (56 percent of respondents).
W For many years, homosexual couples have been blessed by the Catholic Church in Germany. Until now it was informal, but in July of that year the 3 dioceses introduced a formal practice of giving specified blessings – it is simply a ceremony that resembles the wedding very much.
The perfect basis for these blessings seems logically besides to lead to the acceptance of the relationships of respective people. According to the progressive German theology, the key is the “relationship” between “people who love each other”.
If they are ‘responsible’ and environment themselves with ‘care’, their relation should be appreciated if it is sustainable. The notions of nature or fertility no longer matter.
