A fewer years ago, even before the catastrophe of 2022, the following answer was put to the question sometimes asked about the causes of rusophobia of the majority of the Polish political class and the media related to it: after all, a kind of bidding in anti-Russian rhetoric between the rulers and the opposition has been going on for rather a long time, and both parties are hostages here.
If any politician or writer had said something good about this country, nation, culture or even sport, he would have been immediately hailed as “Russian agent” or “Russian onus”. Rusophobia was part of the “political sport” in Poland, that is, a barren fight that consumes an crucial part of the strength of our political class. Of course, politicians are seconded by the politicized "opinitive media", which (as though) allows to claim that this hatred and contempt for everything that Russian already unites all (without exception) Poles. This bidding is motivated by a alternatively prosaic goal: in the belief of the full political class, our "strategic ally" was, is, and will be, of an anti-Russian being, and that we must proceed to lick him, it is best to do so.
