Donald Tusk announced a reconstruction of the government after the presidential election, but his plans face the opposition of the coalitions. The politicians of PSL, Poland 2050 and fresh Left do not agree to take their positions, which puts the Prime Minister in a hard situation. Will the rulers be able to scope a compromise?
Government reconstruction halted
After the first circular of the presidential election, Donald Tusk announced that in June he would return to talks about the reconstruction of the government. – "I want these emotions to drop for the next fewer days. Not everyone has a reason to rejoice” said on TVP Info. Its aim was to reduce the number of ministers and increase the efficiency of the government.
However, after the defeat of Rafał Trzaskowski in the presidential election, the subject of reconstruction was moved to the background. According to Virtual Poland, coalitions do not agree to profound changes. – "We truly have more serious problems now than discussing stools" – says 1 associate of the government, although in practice this means defending existing positions.
Coalition: ‘This is not the time to change’
The politicians of the ruling coalition emphasize that present another issues are more crucial than reconstruction. Marshal of the Sejm Szymon Hołownia (Poland 2050) stated that no talks on government weight failure had yet been conducted.
– "We believe that the ministers we have delegated to the government are doing well. You gotta work on communication sometimes, due to the fact that they do a lot, only it is not always decently transmitted.” said the Holovnia.
The head of PSL Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz is of the same opinion: – "Everything needs to be adapted to the strategy and programme. We have things to do, and efficiency is crucial today. For this, appropriate persons must be selected.”.
Krzysztof Gawkowski of Nowa Lewica confirmed that talks about changes in government will not take place in the coming weeks.
Will Tusk fulfill his plans?
The current deadlock shows that Donald Tusk does not have full control of the coalition. His proposal to reduce the government met the opposition of partners who do not want to quit their influence. In the close future, the Prime Minister will gotta find a way to convince them to change or to accept the current state of affairs.
Will the reconstruction of the government even take place? It depends on whether the coalitions decide to make concessions. For now, however, it seems that Tusk must postpone his plans.
