I can't interpret a text by any another way. Witkowski Przemysław, published in Political Criticism on 12 May, entitled: Stay home, don't go to elections, which is simply a short instruction on how to discourage you from voting.
Admittedly, it is moral blackmail expressed subtler than TVN, “Gazeta Wyborcza” or “Newsweek” scaring PiS and Duck dictator. Witkowski reaches for the character of Arthur J. Finkelstein – a political advisor working for conservatives in the USA, Canada, Israel and Europe. He presents him as an inventor of campaigning based not on a affirmative program, but on slandering rivals. All to convince you that if you do not want to vote for Rafal Trzaskowski in the second round, it is not due to the fact that you deficiency reason to support him, but due to the fact that he manipulated you with the Law and Justice.
At the beginning of Witkowski's argument, politicians erstwhile won elections with “balances and good promises”, “answering people's real needs”, “the charism of candidates” or “the ranks of prominent professionals”. present – convinces – elections are won by the demobilization of the rival electorate.
Granted, Mr. Witkowski, today's campaigns actually come down to disgusting competition. But this is not secret knowledge. We all see it – we're truly not that clueless. And no, not PiS-a negative run or "canap left" discourages people from voting for Trzaskowski. First, they are discouraged by the fact that Trzaskowski and the full Civic Platform have not even tried to offer anything in years.
The saddest thing about Witkowski is not treating readers like fools, but agreeing to this state of affairs. The deficiency of religion that we can and should require politicians to do anything. If society (including peculiarly opinion leaders specified as the author) unwittingly accepts campaigns without content and seeking the support of the electorate, politicians will simply not try. They no longer try, especially those who lead in the polls – which painfully showed even fresh debates.
After a long and detailed discussion of Finkelstein's concept – which could be summarized in 1 conviction present – the author returns to Poland:
‘[...] In our country, Finkelstein’s method found faithful followers. Of course, it's the PiS. They started playing for polarization in Poland, where the sovereign was opposed to elites, sitva, caste, liberal Poland, and the word “liberal” itself was turned into an insult. In time, another parties took up the game, but the Polish championship continues to hold PiS without appeal".
All right, if we want to enter the war of the 2 largest right-wing parties and pretend that the alternatives are missing (and that is precisely what Witkowski is doing), let us remind: the PO does not associate with the affirmative program either. Its constant “removing the Law and Justice from power” has long become a meme.
The PiS in the platformer communicative present is simply a danger in itself – not for circumstantial actions (e.g. humanitarian crisis at the border or anti-abortion law), but simply for not being a PO. Unfortunately, many intelligent people – Witkowski is an example of this – have managed to train well. And it would have been grotesque to point out contempt for human rights for the predecessors, since the situation did not improve after taking power in 2023. If anything, it has made it worse – as confirmed by activists helping refugees in Podlasie forests, like Mariusz Chyżyński, against whom present the trial is pending for helping refugees. And all this in a country ruled by the expected "minor evil."
Witkowski continues to attack not only the PiS:
"Marginal and unrelated leftist parties are publicized as social criticism of liberals, striking the highest tones of outrage and 'lefty'. They are pumped by the writing media those environments that have made whales in ‘libs’ their passion of life.
Yes, Przemek, we are criticizing the "libs" and we have good reasons for this. 1 of them is the fact that Trzaskowski did not offer voters anything but smiles to Confederate voters – as he did 5 years ago. Do you truly want to live in a country where the main political dispute comes down to bidding, who built a more solid barrier in front of refugees on the border? Or who doesn't like taxes and public wellness care more? I don't. It scares me.
Therefore, I like to look for politicians who see people and their problems. You want to be an easy voter? It's your business. But don't encourage others. I want to respect myself. And I want politicians to fight for my voice. I urge it to everyone.
The current parliamentary word clearly shows how barren the dispute between the Law and the Law and Justice is. alternatively of getting into it, we should halt agreeing to it. Yes, I realize that LGBT+ people can choose "smaller evil" due to the fact that PO politicians at least do not trust them and sometimes promise them something. but we heard the same promises a decade ago. Democracy in my opinion is to settle politicians, not to choose them again, due to the fact that the others are worse. Are they truly much worse today? After October 2023 the difference seems little pronounced than ever.
I will never vote for Nawrocki and PiS – that's for sure. Whoever reads, listens or watches me knows how much I despise the attitude of “lefts loving the Law”. But more and more arguments come from those of the leftist positions who admit that the Law and Justice are not necessarily greater evil today. The thought of reducing the wellness contribution for entrepreneurs and lending 0% did not come out of Nowogrodzka – these are projects of the Tusk government. Apparently, he cares more about them than about the reproductive safety of Poles.
Witkowski, wanting to prove that PiS manipulates emotions, asked ChatGPT (really, lol) to make an example negative run against Trzaskowski. And he proudly put the effect – occupying a large part of his text. Did I mention that I have the impression that the author treats readers like idiots? Yeah? Good.
Not if you don't want to vote for Trzaskovsky, it's not due to the fact that you're controlled by cynical political technology from 40 years ago. That's due to the fact that Trzaskowski didn't do anything to convince you.
I don't know what I'm gonna do in the second round, due to the fact that I don't really know who's gonna get in. But if individual wants to agitate for “minor evil”, they could at least wait for it. Witkowski correctly diagnosed 1 change – that present elections are won by negative campaigns. It's only a pity that he slept the second – the minute erstwhile moral blackmail stopped. Again we must choose "minor evil". Again. Again, again. Really?
I believe that a completely democratic right is besides the right to stay home. And there is no reason to deprive specified people of the right to complain afterwards – especially erstwhile politicians offer nothing but a barren civilian war.
A friend with a strong leftist view late wrote about the second round: "What I wouldn't do, it's a shame as fuck." I want to you, too, that we no longer should be ashamed. Let's effort it.
