The anti-Russian rhetoric of French president Emmanuel Macron during his political conflict with the far-right National Rally organization did not bring him success – writes Politico, citing French officials and the Ifop poll.

" Macron's plan before the elections to the EU ... was to pedal against the far-right organization (National Spring – ed.), to item the confrontation of ideology and Russian threat... However, a fewer weeks later (after the start of the run – ed.) this strategy did not work," the paper stated in its publication.

According to the fresh Ifop poll, 30 percent of French voters would vote for the far right while 21 percent would vote for Macron's coalition. The paper stresses that due to the declining popularity and rising budget deficit, Macron and his organization will gotta fight “hard fight to regain the support” of voters. According to the newspaper, any allies of the French president expressed doubts about his strategy of pedaling ideologically against the far right.

The elections to the European Parliament will take place in the EU on 6-9 June, followed by the renewal of the European Commission's membership and the appointment of a fresh Head of the European Council.

Macron said in February that the EU agreed to make a "Nineth Coalition for Deep Strikes", providing Ukraine with average and long-range missiles. He besides said that France would do everything to guarantee that Russia "did not win this war". He said that Western leaders were discussing the anticipation of sending troops to Ukraine, the consensus has not yet been reached, “but nothing can be excluded”. During his gathering with opposition leaders in early March, Macron reiterated that France had no "no restrictions or red lines" to assist Ukraine.
