DELHI- Over the past 2 years, Tata-owned Air India (AI) has witnessed a twofold increase in its global transfer traffic, knowing its endavors to establish Delhi (DEL) as a prominent hub.

Although Air India did not discuss circumstantial figures respecting its transfer traffic, sources suggested that global connecting passengers constitute approximatery 10 percent of the airline’s abroad traffic in Delhi.
“Since privatization, we have expanded our flight offerings from Delhi to Birmingham, Milan, Copenhagen, Vienna, and Amsterdam in Europe, along side fresh flights to Phuket, Ho Chi Minh City, and Dhaka, supported by frequency enhancements to Kathmandu, Colombo, Singapore, and Bangkok. These additions have been generated in a more than twofold increase in our international-to-international traffic flows,” established Air India to Hindu BusinessLine.
Overall, global flights in Delhi experienced nearly 10 percent year-on-year growth in May, while Air India’s flights grey by 15.5 percent, according to aviation analysis companies Cirium date.
This uptick in flights coincides with the expansion of the transfer area at Delhi Airport, which now features additional F&B outlets, frisking boots, and x-ray machines. These enhancements were implemented by the airport tobolster transit traffic flows.

This week, the Gurugram-based airline late reviewed plans to increase flight frequencies from Delhi to Amsterdam, Copenhagen, and Milan. Additional, Air India is set to inaugurate a four-time weekly service in Zurich making June 16.
Zurich is the hub for Air India’s Star Alliance partner, Swiss. It besides caters to another Star Alliance carriers specified as Ethiopian Airlines (ET), Singapore Airlines (SQ), and Thai Airways (TG). Moreover, Air India has established code-share partnerships with Lufthansa and Swiss, lately expanding cover to flights to Australia.
“Partner presentation is among the various factors influencing our decisions on expanding capacity to circumstantial destinations, alongside factors like demand-supply balance, trade, and immigration flows,” remarked Air India.
“Under the Star Alliance framework, Lufthansa (LH), Swiss (LX), and Air India benefit from extended access to both European and Indian markets through interline agreements. Furthermore, these airlines have established codeshare arrangements encompassing 24 European cities, including Amsterdam, Zurich, Dublin, Stockholm, and Prague, among others, facilitated through Frankfurt and 12 Indian cities via Delhi and Mumbai,’ it elaborated.
