At least a unusual event took place on 3 January 2024 at the National Opera, and was to be completely different. With all kinds of street criteria, opposing political camps start fighting by counting demonstrators. So far, the evidence holder in this discipline is Donald Tusk, who counted a million marching hearts, although even the most favorable media centres did not include a 4th of this turnout. At the National Attendance Opera it is impossible to multiply, due to the fact that the number of seats is limited first, and secondly known, and it must be said that the hall was empty.
Why did this happen? Apparently, the repertoire and soloist did not attract viewers! The political performance was entitled “Polish Presidency of the EU” and Donald Tusk looked thin on stage. It is clear that the soloist “coalition 13 December” is being used, and that the audience until 5.00 am in line for tickets and pizza is not standing. The very peculiar behaviour of organizers and honored guests has come to this end. First, the media reported that the European Commission's head Ursula von der Leyen would not appear at the event. The reason for abstinence was to be a disease, precisely a cold, but rather rapidly there was speculation that it was alternatively a diplomatic disease. The celebratory gala's rank has fallen importantly and it's not the end of the gnash.
The Ministry of abroad Affairs has been conducting a diplomatic war with Hungary for many days and this is the consequence of granting political asylum to Marcin Romanowski. As part of this war, the MFA has ostentatiously omitted the Hungarian Ambassador to Poland from the list of guests, and it is crucial that Hungary has given the Presidency to Poland. Decision taken by Radosław Sikorski in brief comments, the chief of Hungarian diplomacy commented: "Childhood and pitiful". It is hard to argue with this assessment, indeed Minister Sikorski, not for the first time, showed both characteristics mentioned by the Minister of Hungary.
However, the biggest storm was caused by the abstinence of president Andrzej Duda, who sent his advisor to the gala from abroad policy and global relations Wojciech Gerwel. The President's absence was besides very eloquently commented by the chief of the law firm Margaret Paprocka:
After the invitation was sent, there was no contact with the KPRM or the MFA in this case. It can be concluded that this was not an crucial event for organizers.
At first glance, the absence of Andrzej Duda may look like a classical fuch, but the political context is more complicated. The day before, RMF FM reported:
Donald Tusk's government did not want president Andrzej Duda to welcome EU leaders and host specified a meeting, so he preferred to abandon the organisation of the summit.
As much as the average Kowalski is incapable to verify, there is no uncertainty that Poland has not organised an informal EU summit, which is simply a customary action before the Presidency. There are many indications that president Andrzej Duda, who perfectly remembers how Donald Tusk arrested a government plane to make him sleep. President Lech Kaczyński he could not appear at the summit in Brussels, he was not drawn into another provocation. The President's decision can be assessed differently, but the consequence is that soloist Donald Tusk did not execute an aria, only an old song to an almost empty room, and in any case a hall without the presence of prominent guests.
