Adrian Zandberg, co-chair of the organization Together, announced his candidacy for president of Poland. This decision was met with broad interest, not only due to the political program, but besides due to the revealed proposal that its group would receive from Prime Minister Donald Tusk. Zandberg stresses that his start is to mobilize voters disappointed by the governments of the Civic Platform, but reluctant to vote for right-wing groups.
Mobilising disappointed voters
In an interview on Tok FM radio, Zandberg clearly indicated the motivation of his candidacy. "I'm moving this election to get people out of the home who won't just go to vote. due to the fact that after a year of this government, after all these disappointments and unfulfilled promises they wave their hand and say it is not for them," argued the politician.
Zandberg does not hide his disappointment with the current government. He criticises the deficiency of implementation of the demands they agreed to during the 2023 election campaign. In his opinion, the government "does not deliver the things we promised together a year ago, and in a alternatively insolent way it tells people."
Proposal from Tusk: Tables in exchange for silence
One of the most controversial themes of the interview was the disclosure of the proposal that Prime Minister Tusk had to make to the parties together. According to Zandberg, the offer afraid the award of positions in exchange for the deficiency of criticism of government activities. "We had a very simple proposal: you will get seats; you will get what half of the Polish political class is for," Zandberg recalled. He added that the price for these privileges was to be “sit quietly.”
Zandberg rejected the proposal, stressing that the organization Together is not going to be part of the political arrangement. "I do not agree to specified a dirty arrangement. I am here to represent those people who trusted us a year ago, voting for a circumstantial programme," he said.
Government criticism and imagination of change
Zandberg harshly assessed Tusk's government policy, accusing him that alternatively of pursuing election promises, he focused on supporting banks, developers and large business. “He left behind millions of inhabitants of towns like Płońsk. (...) Poland deserves that we are not constantly forced to choose between Tusk and Kaczyński," he said.
Politician Together, he stresses that his run focuses on concrete solutions, specified as expanding wellness spending to 8% of GDP.
Zandberg vs. Hołownia
On the question of similarity with the communicative of Simon Holownia, Zandberg powerfully denied, pointing out that Holownia had become part of Donald Tusk's political backdrop. He stressed that his goal was a real political change, not to support the current arrangement of power.
Summary
Adrian Zandberg's candidate is not only a challenge for the current government, but besides a signal for voters looking for alternatives. His run is based on the demands of systemic change and the regaining of the assurance of citizens disappointed with the policy so far. Will the proposals of the Leader Together be reflected in the results of the elections? Time will show whether Polish left is able to convince a wider group of voters.
