Russian-Ukrainian War (as of morning 09.02.2026):
- Russia continues to attack Ukrainian energy infrastructure — rocket strikes and drones mark the power grid, leading to peculiarly severe power outages in western Ukraine. The main transmission node was hit, which was transported from Poland. The impact of the attacks is extended network failures, heating and light limitations, partial power outs even in large centres.
- Russian air strikes in Kramatorsk – at least 1 civilian was killed, there are besides respective wounded, demolition of residential buildings around the local power plant, which was completely destroyed.
- The Ukrainian counterattack under Wielomachalivka is developing. Diversification-sabotage troops entered the Russian group and reached Zlahoda, close Uspieniwka. The Russians are drawing reinforcements to patch the breach in their group.
- Russian forces proceed their attempts to flank the defence of the village of Bylicke under Dobropilia.
- On the Liman episode, Russians proceed to ineffectively attack Bohusławka.
- Ukrainian defence minister Mikhail Fiedov announced that from now on the mobilisation of fresh soldiers would be carried out utilizing firearms.
- Subsequent rounds of trilateral peace talks (Ukraine – Russia – USA) were confirmed, although earlier negotiations did not bring a breakthrough. The arrangements include a possible date for another gathering in the United States.
