The teachers are disappointed by the actions of Donald Tusk's government and the Ministry of Education under the direction of Barbara Nowacka. If their demands are not met, there may be protests.
The decision to strike soon
During the press conference, the president of the Polish Teachership Union (ZNP), Sławomir Bronisz, announced that 24 June The General Management Board of the ZNP will decide on a possible protest action.
– "It seems that the situation we are facing in terms of teachers' welfare, working conditions and wages requires extremist action" – said the Bronisz.
What's the E.N.A. demanding?
The Association of Polish Teachership will address Prime Minister Donald Tusk with a request for presentation in the Sejm specific declarations concerning:
- Adoption of a ministerial draft amendment Teacher Cards of 20 March 2025
- Adoption of the civilian draft of the NPA Act amending the Teacher's Charter.
- Amendments to the Act on teacher compensation servicesso that the benefit does not expire and the age of its acquisition is reduced.
- Increases in teachers' salaries by at least 10%.
"Teachers gain little than self-government workers"
The gunman pointed out the immense pay gap:
– "A self-government worker in the first grade will gain a 1000 zlotys more than a teacher with a higher education, while we only require primary education from him. This causes many teachers to seriously consider leaving the profession” – he said.
Black hours and government promises
The NPA besides demands the withdrawal of the so-called. ‘black hours’, i.e. an extra hr of consultation for students and parents. In November 2023 Prime Minister Tusk announced that the government would address the civilian task of the ZNP, which assumes inter alia the link between teachers' wage and average wage in the economy.
