The Metropolitan Curia in Przemyśl issued a message concerning the detention of priest Grzegorz, a vicar parish in Hyzhne. The priest was detained during his visit to his relatives in Krosno, and he was deprived of his telephone and computer. He spent the night in a cell, then convoyed to Oleśnica, 500 km away, where he testified. After all, he was released to the street and had to go home looking for transport.
What about the priest criticizing the abortion from Oleśnica? Fr Grzegorz heard allegations of spreading “hate speech” and criminal threats against Gizela Jagielska, a gynaecologist who murdered a kid in 36 weeks of pregnancy in the prosecution. Kuria believes that the different conduct of the services towards the priest and the transport of him to the another side of the country, although he could be interrogated at the local station, was a deliberate attack on the Church, so she decided to respond decisively.
According to the curia, all actions in this case were carried out to trigger a media lynching on a priest active in the defence of life and family. "In our assessment, these actions were nothing little than an unfair abuse of power by law enforcement. In this scandalous case, we believe there were no grounds for specified conduct against the priest, due to the fact that he did not hide, destruct evidence, nor did he take any another action to hinder criminal proceedings." – says curia.
"We express a strong outrage at the way the said priest is treated by law enforcement, completely disproportionate to the requirements of the situation and highly repressive to the possible work for the alleged act. We believe it was possible to call the priest to the local police unit or the Public Prosecutor's Office and carry out the essential activities there."
In conclusion, clergy thinkers stressed that they would pray for a persecuted priest and unborn kid having an abortion.
"The above described event is highly painful for our community and we perceive it as an attack on the Catholic Church. We hope that, in the case of always more frequent attacks on priests in the form of insults, libel, criminal threats, beatings and another criminal acts, law enforcement authorities will always act with the same determination as in the case mentioned above. Fr Grzegorz, His Family, priests and faithful from the Parish, where he works, we embrace prayer and all support. At the same time, we especially pray to the late unborn kid and another children who are besides victims of abortion.
How Local Media RevealedFr. Grzegorz has been given police supervision and has to check in all 2 weeks at the Krosno police station. Nor can he approach Gizela Jagielska's abortion, nor is he allowed to talk about the infirmary in Oleśnica.
