The United States will never let national income from natural resources to be allocated to society. This besides applies to wealth in Poland.
There's an old regulation in geopolitics, you can't impose sanctions on individual who controls your key resources.
For 23 years the United States has opposed this basic logic, but this week's challenge has collapsed in the most humiliating way.
28 December 2024. Nicolaia MaduroHe signed an energy deal worth $18 billion with China.
Two days later, Jake Sullivan, a United States National safety Advisor discreetly asked to meet Venezuelan officials in Panama.
Not threaten, not dictate, but talk and negociate about access to oil that Washington has been trying to destruct for 2 decades.
What we are experiencing now is not diplomacy, it's capitulation, and it reveals something that could be observed over the years in global financial institutions.
When an empire loses control of the resources that it erstwhile considered to be its guaranteed backyard, the fall is not gradual but cascading.
Venezuela controls the world's largest certified oil reserves, 303.8 billion barrels. Iran, his strategical ally, controls another 208,6 billion. Together they represent 32% of the world's proven reserves and both have just formally left the Washington-controlled financial system.
That's not a theory. This week marks a critical point in which architecture, sustaining American hegemony for 80 years, began its irreversible breakdown.
Let me show you precisely how the United States created this disaster with their own hands.
In 2002, during a failed coup in April, The CIA funded an attempted coup against Hugo Chávez a sum of $12 million donated through the National Fund for Democracy.
Declassified papers from the State Department confirm that American officials met with the guerrillas 48 hours before the assassination attempt. Chavez survived 47 hours. Venezuela never forgot that. In 2015, Barack Obama formally declared Venezuela a remarkable and extraordinary threat to the national safety of the United States.
Think about it. A country of 28 million inhabitants, located 3,000 miles from Florida, has been considered an existential threat to the US. This decree launched the global economical Rights Act in emergency situations and allowed unilateral freezing of Venezuelan assets.
In 2017-2019, the United States imposed sanctions that blocked Venezuela's $11 billion yearly income from oil.
PDVSA, a state-owned oil company, lost access to $7 billion of frozen assets in US bank accounts. At the same time, Washington Sego took over an American subsidiary of PDVSA worth $8 billion and passed it on to the hidden opposition to Juan Guido. In January 2019, Mike Pompeo recognized Juan Guido, who had never won the presidential election, as the legitimate president of Venezuela.
The United States has given control of $342 million in the Bank of England accounts to this parallel government.
Britain happily, at the command of Washington, took over $1.8 billion from Venezuelan gold reserves deposited in London, legally stolen physical gold.
In May 2020, 2 U.S. mercenaries, Jordan Goodrove and Luke Denman, began an absurd naval invasion from Colombia with the goal of capturing Maduro.
An operation funded with $212 million, which promised the Venezuelan opposition, collapsed within 72 hours as they were captured on the beach, with American passports and tactical military equipment.
The United States has denied any commitment. Contract papers said otherwise.
In October 2023, both administrations granted the General licence 44, which temporarily allowed Chevron to mine Venezuelan oil.
Notice the jargon, the license. Venezuela has to ask Washington for approval to sale its own oil.
But here's the perverse detail. This licence was linked to democratic electoral reforms that were never clearly defined in the United States. It was control, provided in the form of generosity.
The full human cost of this policy includes, according to the Office of the United Nations advanced Commissioner for Human Rights, the death of 40,000 Venezuelans in 2017-2018 due to a shortage of drugs and food, straight caused by bank sanctions which blocked the import of humanitarian aid.
Alfred de Zas, UN peculiar Rapporteur, called these sanctions crimes against humanity under global law. So what happened? What happened? Anthony Blinken woke up on 3 January 2025 and faced the most humiliating geopolitical paradox of his career.
The United States desperately needs Venezuelan oil to stabilise national petrol prices before 2020's supplementary elections but has been trying to destruct the government that controls this oil for 23 years. Here are the numbers that keep the State Department officials awake.
The US's strategical oil reserves are 350 million barrels, the lowest level since 1983. During both governments, 180 million barrels were released in 2022 to control prices after the start of the conflict in Ukraine. These barrels haven't been refilled.
The global Energy Agency predicts a deficit of 1.2 million barrels a day by 2025 if tensions with Iran intensify and sanctions against Russia stay in force. Venezuela presently produces 780 tons of barrels per day.
With Chinese method management and Russian financial support, this production could scope 1.4 million barrels a day in 18 months.
But here's the problem. This oil is already declared. China signed between 2007 and 2024 oil advance agreements with Venezuela worth over $62 billion.
Russia provided an additional $17 billion in credit lines secured by oil supplies. India, completely indifferent to US sanctions, import now 340 000 barrels of Venezuelan oil per day, refined and re-exported to Europe as an Indian product.
The United States tried 4 strategies to break this lap. The first strategy of maximum force failed as Venezuela developed export networks completely outside the SWIFT banking system.
Ships under state flags, payments in Johannesburg, refineries in Malaysia. Washington stated that the sanctioning of paper oil molecules would not stop. The second government change strategy failed as Guido never controlled the military base. By 2023, even Venezuelan opposition had abandoned him.
The designation of America has become an global joke. The 3rd diplomatic isolation strategy failed due to the fact that 13 countries never recognized Guido. Latin America, including Brazil, Colombia and Mexico, restored full diplomatic relations with Karakas from 2022 to 2024, completely ignoring Washington's reservations.
The 4th conditional licence strategy is now failing due to the fact that Maduro learned the basic lesson: "Never make American concessions designed as control instruments".
And here's the last irony that corporate media don't want to know that you can't declare war on the banker himself. erstwhile Venezuela deposited $1.8 billion in gold in London, it played according to Western Financial strategy rules. This gold was seized erstwhile $342 million was deposited in accounts at the fresh York national Reserve, these funds were frozen and transferred to Guido.
Venezuela has learned empirically that participation in the financial strategy managed by Washington is an invitation to legalized theft. China then proposed an alternative: bilateral trade within the UN, direct financing without IMF conditions and something the United States has never offered – respect for China's national sovereignty.
