Migration strategy 2025–2030 is named To regain control. guarantee safety. However, the government announces actions which, in our view, will have precisely the other effect – will lead to a deepening of chaos and lawlessness at the border, which is simply a threat to the safety of our community.
Suspension of the right to apply for global protection is simply a violation of Article 18 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union, the Geneva Convention, the Convention on the Rights of the kid and Article 56 of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland. The essence of fundamental human rights is that they are inviolable. Predicting a temporary and territorial suspension of the right to apply for global protection (commonly referred to as asylum), Prime Minister Donald Tusk de facto commits a human rights attack and suspends the process of restoring the regulation of law.
Recover control – just follow the law and procedures
Our position on this is clear: Violence and pushbacks are a denial of control. They presume the removal of persons in the territory of Belarus without establishing their situation, without verifying them, sometimes even without registering their data. The solution is here. use of existing procedures in accordance with national and global law, which presume a reliable recognition and individual assessment process. In addition, experiences from another borders teach us that there is no border in the planet that people cannot cross in search of security. The key to regaining control is the application of law, the creation of legal pathways of migration, the implementation of smart reception and integration policies and coordination between services, institutions and NGOs.
Ensure safety – all, without discrimination
The task of the government is to guarantee the safety of all persons residing in the territory of Poland. Meanwhile, migrant people – in the vast majority of defenceless civilians – are exposed to wellness and life-threatening exports and experience violence, not only from Belarusian but besides from Polish services. We consider it peculiarly dangerous to introduce a precedent for suspending the right to apply for global protection. Given the geopolitical situation and many historical lessons, it is in the Polish interest that the right to asylum should be recognised by all European countries as fundamental and inviolable.
We are besides afraid about the emergence in xenophobic sentiments in the public space. The direct consequence of hateful statements by politicians is the emergence of Self-appointed patrols armed militias in forests on the Polish-Belarusian border, making "citizen detentions" with violence, or alleged civic patrols in Polish cities whose victims are migrants.
From Polish GovernmentWe look forward to a migration strategy based not on ad hoc political demand, but on data, facts, investigation and experience and cognition of experts and experts in various fields. We anticipate a migration strategy in line with the constitution and principles of humanitarianism, responding to current and projected societal challenges. A strategy aimed at social cohesion – i.e. Community integration and safety all persons residing in the territory of Poland.
We so appeal to the rulers:
– to refrain from legislative work aimed at suspending the right to apply for global protection;
– to perceive to and take into account the voices of experts and experts from the migrant, non-governmental and technological environment erstwhile creating the state's migration strategy, and in peculiar to analyse the study of the Committee for investigation on Migration of the Polish Academy of Sciences, which is the consequence of a wide public consultation ordered by the Ministry of abroad Affairs and aimed at providing cognition and tools to make a fresh migration strategy. In our view, the results of these studies have not been included in the government's proposed migration strategy;
– to refrain from populist rhetoric, fear management and actively combat xenophobic and racist sentiments;
– to halt force and pushbacks on the Polish-Belarusian border and to guarantee the safety of people carrying humanitarian aid.
