USA: Leftist views are the domain of young women

The American regular Caller wonders why more young women than men take leftist views in the US. While in the past women traditionally had a "stabilising effect" on culture in a time of chaos, giving birth and raising children erstwhile men were "untrustworthy fathers and household heads", a different trend is now being observed.

Research by the Pew investigation Center confirms that young people present are little likely to marry and have children than in erstwhile generations.

Among those aged 18-24, only 7% are married. In 1993, it was 18 percent.

In the age group 25-29, 29% of young people are presently married compared to 50% in the same age group 2 decades ago.

Importantly, in the age group between 18 and 34 years of age, 72% of the men and 69% of the women replied yes to the question of whether they intend to marry in the future.

When asked if they would always want to have children, only 57% of men of the same age group and 45% of women answered yes.

The approach to starting a family, matrimony and having children reflects individual values. Changing views on this sphere besides translates into views on another matters, e.g. attitude towards religion and the Church.

According to a survey by the American Enterprise Institute on the departure of young women from the Church in unprecedented numbers, 54% of adults from the Z generation (born 1997-2012) who left their religion were women. 46% are male. There's been a change in trend. Men were more likely to abandon religion than women.

For example, in the generation of millennials (born 1981-1996), 53% of men compared to 47% of women left religion. In the X generation (born 1965-1980), 55% of men abandoned religion compared to 45% of women.

According to the study, presently 61% of women in the Z generation identify themselves as “feminists” and 65% of women aged 18-29 believe that “most churches and spiritual assemblies do not treat men and women equally”. This, among another things, would decision them to adopt a more liberal attitude.

A fresh Gallup survey showed that the average percent of women aged 18-29 between 2017 and 2024 identified as "liberal/very liberal" was 40%. Between 2001 and 2007, only 28 percent of women in the same age group identified themselves as "liberal/very liberal".

No akin spectacular difference of view was observed for men. The same number of men – 25 percent – identified their views as liberal/very liberal between 2001 and 2007, as well as between 2017 and 2024."

Among the ladies, acceptance for abortion and support for climate action has increased dramatically. According to Gallup's research, the percent of women claiming that "abortion should be legal in all/nearly all circumstances" increased by 18 points over 2 investigation periods. The percent of women who said the environment should be a precedence over economical growth increased by 19 points.

Today, women are no longer worried about rising the cost of living, including energy. The percent of young women who said they were worried about energy availability and affordability decreased by 11 points over 2 investigation periods. The percent of women who said they were worried about national spending and the deficit fell by 14 points and the percent of women worried about the economy fell by 16 points.

"Daily Caller" points out that "moral relativism and the hedonism of contemporary culture have rooted more powerfully among young women than among young men". Hence, the "healthy future for the nation" is not to be expected. Now we request to consider what drives these trends.

The July Pew investigation Center survey on the attitudes of young adults to have children suggests that young people do not want to have children, preferring to focus on another things like careers or their interests. any argue that they cannot afford to rise a kid and are more afraid about “climate change” or simply dislike children.

In turn, most older people say that the main reason they did not have children is due to the fact that they did not find a suitable partner.
