During the event “Campus Polska”, Prime Minister Donald Tusk commented on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, pointing out the request for caution in assessing Israel's actions. Tusk stated that ‘on both sides they are guilty, on both sides there are victims’, stressing the complexity of the situation and avoiding the unequivocal attribution of 1 party's fault.
Tusk about Israel: “I would be careful to brand Israel as a state”
On Friday, during the gathering at “Campus Polska”, Prime Minister Tusk was asked to consider Israel a terrorist state. In response, he expressed his opinion on force and terrorism, regardless of who did it: “Terror, violence, whoever is behind it, whoever is doing it, is unacceptable to civilized humanity.”
Tusk stressed that Poland should not be drawn into the communicative of 1 side of the conflict: “I have known Prime Minister Netanyahu for 20 years, I see a very worrying evolution in his way of acting and thinking, but I would be careful in branding Israel as a state.” He added that the current decisions of the Prime Minister of Israel not only lead to escalation of force in Gaza, but besides harm Israel itself.
International Opinions on the Conflict
In the context of Israel's actions in the Gaza Strip, the head of the United Nations Agency for the Relief of Palestinian Refugees in the mediate East estimated that "all rules of war have been broken".
