The General Prosecutor's Office has issued an indictment against six persons in connection with irregularities in the Justice Fund. The issue, which already counts 1,200 volumes of the act, shook the Polish political and legal scene. The defendants included erstwhile officials of the Ministry of Justice and priest Michał Olszewski.
New information from the prosecution: 200 hearings, 24 charges
A spokesperson for the General Prosecutor's Office, Anna Adamiak, revealed the latest details of the investigation during the Tuesday press conference. The case counts 1,200 volumes of files. So far, 200 people have been interviewed. A survey of 50 contracts concluded and their implementation was carried out. 24 people heard the charges," she said.
The indictment went to the Warsaw territory Court. It concerns grants granted under the Justice Fund to the Profeto Foundation. The Public Prosecutor's Office accuses the defendants of acting against the State Treasury through the discretionary and arbitrary allocation of funds to entities which had no connection with the objectives of the Fund.
Marcin Romanowski: fresh charges and motion to waive immunity
Former Deputy Minister of Justice Marcin Romanowski is to hear 8 fresh charges. lawyer General Adam Bodnar asked the talker of the Sejm, Simon Holown, to waive the immunity of an MP of Law and Justice.
– In cooperation with the officials of the Ministry of Justice, in order to get the property benefit, [Romanowski – ed.] submitted draft offers of 2 entities, before submitting these offers by curious parties, to established officials of the Ministry of Justice, who subsequently subjected these offers to circumstantial control, submitted amendments and comments. The projects made in accordance with these comments were submitted in the competition. The competitions were won by Anna Adamiak.

Justice Fund case: designation and harm to the State Treasury
The National Prosecutor's Office has been investigating irregularities related to the Justice Fund for a year. According to investigators, the funds from the fund were granted on a discretionary basis, without respect to its objectives, which was detrimental to the State Treasury.
Marcin Romanowski is suspected, among others, of setting competitions for multimillion grants and participation in an organized criminal group. He's facing up to 25 years in prison. The politician is not guilty and presently resides in Hungary, where he has received global protection under the Law on the Law of Asylum.
