The medical community in Poland and in the planet has mourned the abrupt death of Dr. Roman Piotrowski, a distinguished cardiologist and prof. of the Medical Center for Postgraduate Education (CMKP). Only 42-year-old doctor died of a heart attack complicated by cardiac arrest during a mountain trip.
Outstanding specialist in electrophysiology
Dr. Piotrowski was a recognized expert in cardiology electrophysiology. He graduated from the Medical University of Lublin in 2008 and then consistently developed his career in the field of cardiology. In 2018, he obtained a Ph.D. degree in medical sciences in the CMKP with distinction, and 5 years later he habilitated, presenting an innovative method of treating reflex fainting – cardioneuuroablation.
During his career Prof. Piotrowski was the author or co-author of nearly 100 technological publications, and his works had a crucial impact on the improvement of modern methods of treating heart diseases. He was professionally associated with the laboratory of Electrophysiology and Control of Implantable Devices of the CCMKP Cardiology Clinic in Grochowski infirmary in Warsaw, where he gained large respect among both patients and coworkers.
Tragedy in the Mountains
The drama took place on January 25, 2025 during a mountain journey to the caterpillar hall. Dr. Piotrowski suffered a heart attack that led to cardiac arrest. Despite immediate assistance and a fewer days of doctors' conflict with the ICU in Zakopane, his life was not saved.
World of discipline and medicine in Repentance
The abrupt death of prof. Piotrowski shocked the full medical community. There have been many moving entries on social media saying goodbye to an outstanding doctor and scientist.
"Roman was a large colleague and made many friends in Poland and abroad. He enjoyed life and drew from it a handful. (...) Roman's departure is simply a large failure to the Polish and global electrophysiological community" – it was written on the profile of Association of the Heart of the Polish Cardiology Society.
Hundreds of people – both doctors and patients – expressed their sadness and disbelief in the face of this abrupt loss. The death of prof. Piotrowski reminds how unpredictable heart diseases can be, even among those who have devoted their lives to their treatment.
The Heritage He Left
Although dr hab. n. med. Roman Piotrowski passed far besides early, his technological achievements and his contribution to the improvement of cardiology will stay a lasting trace in the past of medicine. His work and discoveries will inspire successive generations of doctors and contribute to saving lives.
The abrupt death syndrome in Poland and worldwide has been a popular statistical unit in death records for any time. Of course, medical services, due to their narration, do not associate this with a certain specificity, but conscious people are aware of this.
