PHILADELPHIA- A Spirit Airlines (NK) flight executed an emergency landing in Bermuda (BDA) on April 27, 2025, after experiencing a significant fuel leak.
Flight NK332, travelling from Philadelphia (PHL) to San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU), diverted to L.F. Wade International Airport (BDA) at 9:41 p.m. local time when crew members detected fuel leaking from the aircraft’s right wing.

Spirit Airlines Emergency Landing
Spirit Airlines (NK) Airbus A320, registered as N631NK, was travelling from Philadelphia (PHL) to San Juan Airport (SJU).
The crew declared an emergency when they detected a fuel leak from the right wing and decided to divert to Bermuda (BDA).
The Pilots first alerted air traffic controllers to the developing situation around 9:00 p.m. Controllers received notification of the aircraft’s emergency descent and the nature of the fuel leak coming from its right wing.
Officials promptly mobilised emergency response teams to meet the arriving aircraft.

Emergency Response
Upon the aircraft’s safe touchdown, crews from the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service immediately responded to the scene. Emergency personnel confirmed the presence of a substantial fuel leak emanating from the tip of the right wing.
The response team ordered all fuel pumps shut down to minimise further spillage and environmental contamination.
After initial assessment, ground controllers permitted the aircraft to carefully taxi to the terminal building under close supervision. Fire crews accompanied the aircraft during this movement and positioned collection equipment beneath the wing to capture remaining leaking fuel.
Firefighters then provided additional assistance managing the fuel leak once the aircraft reached its parking position.

All 115 passengers aboard Flight 332 remained safe throughout the incident. A Skyport spokeswoman, representing the airport management company, confirmed that the Airbus underwent a thorough examination following the emergency landing.
“A relief aircraft was flown into Bermuda to transport the passengers to their destination. The original aircraft remains on the island awaiting necessary repairs.”

Recovery Flight
Spirit Airlines (NK) arranged recovery transportation for the affected travellers, scheduling a replacement flight to depart from Bermuda (BDA) the following morning.
According to Skyport officials, the recovery flight successfully departed at 8:52 a.m. on April 28, continuing the journey to San Juan (SJU).
“Skyport would like to thank all partners involved for their support in ensuring the safety and well-being of the passengers and crew during the diversion,” added the company spokeswoman.

The original Airbus A320 remained grounded in Bermuda (BDA) following the incident. Maintenance teams began assessment and repair work on the aircraft’s fuel system.
Spirit Airlines (NK) has not yet released information regarding the expected timeline for completing necessary repairs or returning the aircraft to regular service.
