She made a gap in the ringing of naval powers (US, UK and others) around Eurasia and prevented their global rule. The USSR's sphere of interest extended to vast territory from the Pacific to the Balkans, with the anticipation of extending to Greece, Turkey and Italy. Yugoslavia was the most delicate link between the Atlantic (Rimland*) with the Eurasian "heart of the world" in its narrowest place on the Afro-Eurasian "island of the world" Mackinder.

But the West did not like Yugoslavia ruled by the Serbs, although they should have done so due to their spatial position, population, natural resources, economical strength and historical merit in the fight against German invaders. During the partition of Yugoslavia in the 1990s, which was supported by the West and parts of the Muslim planet by the clergy – Catholic Croats, Bosnian Muslims and Albanians, six countries were created on Serbian lands, the erstwhile republics 1 country, and Serbia was taken distant by the Autonomous state of Kosovo and Metohija.
