A humanitarian organization in the Gaza Strip, Doctors Without Borders refused to hand over the list of Palestinians employed by it to the Israeli authorities. In response, Benjamin Netanyahu's government announced that doctors would no longer be able to supply assistance in the region.

The Ministry of Diaspora, liable for the registration of humanitarian organisations, announced that it would "end" the work of the MSF in the Gaza Strip, stressing that the work to supply a list of Palestinian workers "affects all humanitarian organisations operating in the region".

Israeli government on the registration of groups helping Palestinians requires, among others, these organisations to supply details of employees. Israeli services claim that the 2 Palestinians employed by the MSF belonged to terrorist groups and participated in the attack on Israel of 7 October 2023. This organization powerfully denies it.

In mid-December, 200 NGOs declared that the fresh government was based on unclear, arbitrary and highly politicised criteria.

The Gaza Strip has been experiencing a fragile ceasefire in the war between Israel and Palestinian Hamas since October 10. According to medical authorities, over 500 Palestinians have been killed in the half-enclave, considered credible by UN agencies and independent experts, since the beginning of the truce in Israeli attacks.

There was already a disastrous humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, caused by Israeli military operations in retaliation for the unprecedented attack of Palestinian terrorist groups on Israel in 2023.
