‘If you abide in me, and my words in you, ask,
Whatever you want, it'll come true.“
During the Last Supper, Jesus speaks of our spiritual unity with Him. Through baptism we receive a share in Jesus ’ redeeming death and in his fresh life, which is associated with his glorious resurrection. But baptism alone is not enough. In order for God’s life to stay in us at all, and what is more, faith, religion in Jesus ’ word is needed to develop. This religion involves humiliation and tests of faithfulness. In this context, the essence of the parable of the vine and the branches should be understood. From the vine to the vine flows the life-giving juice, or spirit, which is in Jesus Christ, besides works in us, baptized, while we stay united with Jesus through faith. Jesus repeatedly emphasizes that without him we can do nothing and give his branches a promise: ‘If you abide in me, and my words in you, ask for whatever you wish, and it will be fulfilled to you. It’s okay. ” The condition for something to happen for our actual good (not only temporal but besides eternal) is to unite with Jesus through faith. His word, in which we must stand, helps us to attain this unity. We must not only hear them, but besides put them into practice! He's got to take root in us. By means of Jesus ’ word, we must keep a surviving unity with him, or abide in Jesus, by continuing in his word. Jesus then says: ‘PAsk for whatever you want, and it will come actual for you. It’s okay. ” specified a disciple of Jesus will not ask for useless things, nor will he ask for evil things that could origin pain and harm to others, but will ask for good things. And Jesus promises: “...It'll come actual for you. It’s okay. ” But it's not said that meet ed immediately. Sometimes a man must proceed to believe in a promise for a long time. The promise involves a test of our religion that tests whether we truly believe in Almighty God and in His omnipotence in a peculiar situation.
For example, if we ask for the conversion of a person, it is not so simple due to the fact that he has free will and even has the right to reject the gift we ask for. God respects her freedom. But if we stay in the religion and endure, it is due to our religion and perseverance, and for the sake of that person, God intervenes to save her soul.
If you ask, what is the most precious thing to ask? I answer for the salvation of my soul and the salvation of my fellow men. It is the top gift and the top good for us and for our fellow humans! God will perceive to us. However, we must proceed in God’s Word and be unwavering in the faith. From the life of the saints, for example, Saint Monica prayed for the conversion of her boy Augustine for 18 years. any prayed for the conversion of their loved ones for 60 years. After all, God always listened to them. Many times, erstwhile the praying man was dead, and his coffin was thrown into the grave, God heard his last request for conversion of a individual for whom he prayed his full life! Let this be an encouragement in our time, especially for women and mothers. Let them strive, let them virtually fight for the salvation of their children and not waver in the faith.
