Why do any American Conservatives fear Catholics? An essay made available by Senator Ted Cruz on social media suggests the answer to this question. The author of the text calls conventional Catholics "parasites" and warns that they may undermine the foundation of American conservatism – Christian Zionism and unconditional support for Israel in the Republican Party.

On March 15, Republican Senator from Texas Ted Cruz made available on platform X a long, anti-Catholic essay published by the Republican Zionist account “Insurrection Barbie”, commenting on it as “the best and most comprehensive explanation of what we are fighting.”

The author of the text claims that the Republican organization is even taken over by a tiny group of Catholics who no longer want to support the thought of “Christian Zionism”. According to her, the main origin of influence for this group is to be “hard-headed supporters of the Latin Mass”, especially the environments associated with the Brotherhood of St. Pius X (FSSPX), as well as Catholics acknowledging the existence of a crisis in the Church. Apologetic portal is included among people and environments included in this block Catholic Answers and specified characters as Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens, Nick Fuentes, Adrian Vermeule, Sohrab Ahmari, Patrick Deneen and Gladden Pappin. The author points out that “normal Catholics” do not really know that this is happening.”

The author of the article uses many harsh and controversial terms against the alleged Catholic block in the Republican Party. There are expressions specified as "parasite" as well as accusations of "stealing" and "slow poisoning of existing institutions". In her opinion, Catholics referring to the teaching of St. Thomas of Aquinas "apply a medieval theological scheme" against Christian Zionism. He besides accuses them that their goal is not to spread the Gospel, but to be “swindlers and con artists” and to rise doubts about the ideology of Christian Zionism.

The essay besides criticizes the Catholic doctrine of the social kingship of Christ, portraying it as an alleged “theocratic monarchy” in which the clergy regulation society. According to the author, this imagination contradicts the thought of Christian Zionism. It simply states that modern American conservatism "is based on a theological claim" that "God has made an eternal, unconditional covenant with the judaic people, that the modern state of Israel is simply a fulfillment of the Bible prophecy, and that Christians who "bless Israel" carry out the direct divine command."

If specified reasoning is indeed shared by Republican organization politicians, it can explain their almost unconditional support for Israel and its criminal actions.

The author fears that the Republican candidate in the 2028 presidential election may no longer make "the same clear commitments to the evangelical theology of Israel that all Republican candidate has made since Reagan". He warns that in the future the organization will be dominated by Catholic and Orthodox "nationalism", and Protestants will no longer be able to impose their theological imagination of Christian Zionism. “The U.S.–Israel relation will be treated as a negotiated interest, not a biblical imperative,” says the article.

Because many Catholics online protested against support Ted Cruz for this essay, the senator himself later tried to soften his speech. – I read it the exact opposite. Desperately, we request to keep a strong alliance of faithful Catholics and evangelical Protestants – this was the basis of the contemporary conservative movement. The article shows how harmful coordinated efforts are to drive a wedge between them – wrote on X 16 March.

Even before the essay was released, Cruz besides stated that the slogan “Christ is King” (“Christ is King”) was expected to be an anti-Semitic “internet code” meaning hatred of Jews.
