According to French journalists “Le Figaro”, more and more Ukrainians declare that they no longer feel as safe and welcome in Poland as in the first months after the outbreak of the war. In 2022, Poles accepted millions of refugees from across the east border. Today, after more than 2 years, these relations have changed – the Poles who were deceived by mainstream looked to the eyes, learned the actual past of Polish-Ukrainian relations and the cultural code from which visitors from the east grow. It is impossible to hide that there is simply a immense participation in the process of raising awareness of Poles by specified journalists and historians as Prof. Czesław Partacz, Dr. Lucyna Kulińska, Prof. Włodzimierz Osadczy, Jacek Międlar (author of books and creator of TV series about Ukrainian genocides in Poles), Grzegorz Braun, Witold Listowski or Katarzyna Sokołowska, president of the Volyn Foundation We remember and many others. The lying mainstream lost to them the conflict for Polish hearts and minds. However, the war continues.
Understanding Aversion
The aversion that any Poles now declare (according to polls even 38 percent) did not appear in vacuum. Among the main causes, researchers indicate among others. increasing economical tensionsfeeling unsymmetrical commitment of both parties to building common relationsand uncounted historical memory, especially in the context of Ukrainian genocide in Poles from 1939 to 1947.
Some Poles besides have the impression that the presence of immigrants from Ukraine changes local labour markets, affects access to social benefits or education.
Ungrateful
Since the beginning of Russian aggression Poland has been 1 of the main allies of Ukraine – both politically and humanitarianly. We have accepted millions of refugees, provided military, financial, logistical and social support. Many Poles, affected by propaganda of the establishment, opened their homes and hearts to Ukrainians.
The gestures and decisions of parts of Ukrainian political elites and institutions, which are hard for many Poles, are all the more painful today. Despite the years and appeals of the Polish authorities, Ukraine inactive did not let extended exhumation of victims of genocide in Volyn and east Małopolska. Close to the murdered inactive cannot decently bury their ancestors.
Additionally, it is worrying that monuments are inactive being erected in Ukraine to those liable for these crimes or that the CNS-UPA is being glorified – organizations which, according to most historians, are liable for genocide of the Polish population. specified actions are hard to reconcile with the thought of reconciliation and common respect.
Relations between nations cannot be based solely on political calculation. If they are to be sustainable, they must besides take into account historical fact and justice towards the victims, and Ukrainian power at all turn, besides on economical issues, makes it clear that there is no respect for Poland.
