Highway increases: GDDKiA critically assesses the decision
The Main Directorate of National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) criticised the planned increases in charges on the A4 motorway. According to GDDKiA's assessment, the concessionaire's decision to rise rates is unfounded and straight hits drivers.
The concession holder, Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska, motivates increases in investment expenditure. However, GDDKiA stresses that specified traffic may negatively affect road users, expanding travel costs and hindering free access to the highway.
Ministry of Infrastructure announces changes in concessions to motorways A4 and A2
The Ministry of Infrastructure has announced that it will not extend concessions to the A4 and A2 motorways. After the concession expires, these roads are to go into possession of GDDKiA and become free for users. The expiry of the concession was set at March 2027.
This decision may have a crucial impact on road users, especially those who regularly usage the A4 and A2 motorways. The direct consequence of the modification of the concession may be the absence of the request to pay charges for the usage of these routes, which in turn may affect the change in the preferences of travellers and traffic in the region concerned.
The conclusion of these changes is clear – the fees for utilizing motorways in Poland are changing, both in terms of tallness and way of downloading. It is worth monitoring further developments to adapt to possible changes and to realize their consequences for travellers.
