The head of the German trade union of police officers Andreas Rosskopf called for the usage of cameras based on artificial intelligence that analyse people's behaviour and to increase police control at railway stations after the Hamburg knifesmith attack in Germany – reported Hamburger Abendblatt (HA).
As a consequence of Friday's knife attack at Hamburg's main railway station, 18 people were injured, including 4 with life-threatening injuries. Police reported that a 39-year-old woman, who is likely to endure from intellectual illness, was detained on suspicion of attack.
“Rosskopf said police officers request a filming equipment with artificial intelligence support, which can besides admit behaviour so that specified patterns can be detected in advance”, she reported.
The head of the union admitted that all specified attacks cannot be prevented. However, he added that the police urgently had to be authorised to increase control at all railway stations.
