Head of the American DeGovernment Efficiency Department (DOGE), billionaire Elon Musk, named president Trade and Production Advisor Peter NaVarro's idiot in consequence to his message that Muska's company Tesla buys a large part of the components for electrical cars abroad.
Musk responded to a publication with a movie in which Navarro claims that DOGE's boss is not a producer, but an electrical car installer. According to the presidential advisor, many car batteries manufactured at the Tesla plant in Texas are purchased in Japan and China and electronics – in Taiwan. Navarro stressed that the intent of the US is to manufacture components for cars in its own territory.
“Navarro is just an idiot. What he says is absolutely false," wrote Musk on his social networking site X.
Some time later, Musk published another post in which he offensively called Navarro "Peter Retardo" (with English retarded – mentally retarded).
Earlier, the Washington Post reported, citing sources that Musk personally asked US president Donald Trump to reconsider fresh U.S. import duties from many countries. Last Sunday, Musk said he supported the creation of a free trade region with the EU, despite Trump's earlier imposition of trade duties on the Union.
Trump signed last Wednesday an implementing regulation imposing "mutual" customs duties on imports from another countries. The basic minimum rate will be 10 percent. At the same time, most countries will gotta face higher rates, which, as the U.S. Trade typical explained, have been calculated on the basis of data on the United States trade deficit with the country afraid – so that there is balance alternatively of deficit. For example, imports from EU countries will be subject to a work of 20%.
