Mass deportation of Georgian citizens from Poland. Over 20 people posed a safety risk

On 14 May 2025, the Border Guard, in cooperation with the European Union Border and Coast defender Agency (Frontex), carried out a return operation, resulting in 41 Georgian citizens being forced back from Poland to Tbilisi. The charter flight took off from Radom Airport.

Why were they deported?

According to the authoritative notice, more than half of the deportees (over 20 people) were a threat to national security. Among them were Georgian citizens convicted of:

  • driving intoxicated,
  • possession of drugs or drugs,
  • theft, participation in fights and beatings,
  • assistance in illegal border crossing.

Other foreigners were subject to a forced return decision because:

  • stayed in Poland without the required papers or funds,
  • crossed the border not in accordance with regulations,
  • did not leave the country after the period of residence allowed.

How was the surgery?

The deportees were escorted by Border defender officers, and the full procedure took place in accordance with EU standards for return operations.

Deport statistic in 2025

Since the beginning of the year Poland has left more than 3,000 foreigners forced or voluntaryof which nearly 600 Georgian citizens.

Objective of Frontex and Border Guard

Return operations shall aim at:

  • increased efficacy migration policy,
  • provision internal security,
  • enforcement of administrative decisions in cases violation of the right of residence.

Other cases of deportation

Earlier, the Border defender informed about the deportation from Poland of another Ukrainian, who repeatedly broke the law, driving an intoxicated vehicle despite convictions and prohibitions. It received ban on entry into the Schengen area for 10 years.
