Lewicki: Who frequently met Mr. Putin?

The last speech by Prime Minister Tusk shows that he may have decided to extend the areas under his authority and to include the past, which he wants to freely form and present in the way he seems to be beneficial to him.
This kind of action, as the basis for full political power, was presented in the book “The Year 1984” George Orwell in a celebrated quote: "He who controls the past controls the future: who controls the present, controls the past."

Below is an example of how Tusk treats past facts. In his last, very emotional, parliamentary speech, he stated: “I met Mr. Putin as frequently as Mr. Kaczyński.”
It should be understood that he meant president Lech Kaczyński, as Jarosław is known to have not met Putin once, besides refusing specified a gathering in Smolensk on 10 April 2010.
Let's start investigating this 1 at a time. How many times did he meet and talk to Putin Tusk? I counted these direct meetings at least five. And yes, they were meetings, from the earliest:
– February 8, 2008 in Moscow
-January 29, 2009 at the planet economical Forum in Davos, Switzerland
- September 1, 2009 on the Sopot pier
- April 7, 2010 in Smolensk
April 10, 2010 in Smolensk

How many times did he meet Vladimir Putin Lech Kaczyński? The direct bilateral talks between these politicians did not take place once, and at least twice they participated in the same events.
At the EU Summit in Lahti in October 2006, to which Finland besides invited Putin, during the plenary session Kaczyński pointed out Putin's actions in Chechnya and conflict with Georgia.
For this reason, the paper "Liberation" ranked Kaczyński as a very fewer politicians who saved Europe's honour at this summit.
Media reports of this summit besides said that Kaczyński greeted Putin there, but it was just a handshake, not a "real talk".
This cannot be completely compared to Tusk's long-term conversation with Putin, frequently in private.
There is besides a image of Putin and Kaczyński. This is simply a collective photograph of all participants of the summit in Lahti, where in the first row we see Putin, and in the second row is, among others, Lech Kaczyński.
Meanwhile, the pictures on which only Putin with Tusk is exposed, we will find dozens and specified a beautiful photograph shoot, only for this pair of politicians, was made on the pier in Sopot.
As far as the celebrations at Westerplatte on 1 September 2009, I don't think there was even a greeting from Kaczyński with Putin and no information about it. This would be strange, due to the fact that a fewer months earlier, in November 2008, a alleged "Georgian incident" occurred, consisting of firing, from the side of the Ossetian-Russian station, a convoy in which president Kaczyński besides moved. So could Kaczyński say hello to Putin as if nothing had happened then? On the another hand, there is specified a crucial photograph from this ceremony, where Lech Kaczyński passes along the row of seats on which they sit, side by side: Putin, Merkel and Tusk. Kaczyński does not look at them and they besides have eyes turned in a different direction. It seems as if they and Kaczyński deliberately ignored each another and tried not to notice.

It should besides be noted that the 5 cases of Tusk and Putin meetings mentioned above are not the full number of their contacts. Only on September 1, 2009, during Putin's visit to Poland, there were 3 meetings between Putin and Tuski, which the second spoke about during the proceeding before the territory Court in Warsaw in April 2018. This was to be a gathering with a narrow group, to which he most likely besides took a walk on the pier, and then a celebration on Westerplatte and an intergovernmental formal meeting.
Telephone contacts should besides be added to these direct meetings. We know from the media that Putin called Tusk at least twice: erstwhile on February 3, 2010, and it was then an invitation to visit Smolensk, and the second time in June 2012, during Euro 2012, in connection with incidents between fans of both countries.
Tusk, on the another hand, called Putin at the end of October 2010, and the conversation was to concern a gas contract signed by Deputy Prime Minister Pawlak.

If all these contacts, between Tuski and Putin, are gathered together, it will come to us that there were at least 10 of them, while Lech Kaczyński can barely be assigned 1 direct contact – saying hello to Putin in Lahti.
There is simply a large difference, both in the quantity and importance of these contacts, and it cannot be concluded that it was the same.
He besides wonders why Tusk is trying to convince individual that he was as opposed to Russia as Lech Kaczyński, due to the fact that I think it is appropriate to realize the meaning of his current claims that his relation in Putin was the same as Kaczyński. It is known that then almost all the crucial leaders of Western states had no opposition to cooperate and be friends with Putin. Just to remind you that U.S. president George W. Bush, considered Putin a friend, was with him by his name, and himself admitted to 40 meetings with him, and after the 9/11 attack it was Putin, and not any of the U.S. allies, he was the first to call Bush with an offer of assistance.
As shortly as the next president Barack Obama took power, the alleged reset took place. Putin's enthusiasts besides included UK Prime Minister Tony Blair and Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. Germany, then ruled by Angela Merkel, led and developed strategical cooperation with Russia with iron consequence, which started many years earlier.
Do they all request present that they be thought to have always been opponents of Putin and want to bring others in as any pro-Russian deviations? Most of them do not seem determined to do so, as they no longer exercise power in their countries and do not feel any request to change the communicative of the past to make it a tool to keep the current power. And possibly any of them, too, would not let decency?
