The COP28 climate summit takes place in Dubai. I do not want to mention to this subject and its real significance, but it is worth noting a certain event at this summit, which active Polish president Andrzej Duda.
One component of the summit's beginning celebration was a common photograph of planet leaders, participants in the meeting, which was called "a household photo".
From the media messages we learned that president Duda did not pose for this photograph, and the reason for this was that in a group of leaders who set themselves up to pose was president of Belarus Aleksander Lukashenko.
As it turned out, posing for this photograph, for the same reason, besides refused: the president of Lithuania Gitanas Nauseda and Latvia – Edgars Rinkeviczs.
Political circles in Poland are convinced that the full alleged "free world" boycotts Lukashenko and Putin, which is simply a media expression, is to avoid being found with even mentioned in common photography.
However, we are powerfully isolated in this belief, because, but for the Presidents of Poland, Lithuania and Latvia, another leaders of Western countries who took part in this summit someway had no opposition to pose with Lukashenko.
In addition, erstwhile we look at the effect of this pose, i.e. this “family” photograph, we will see that we do not gotta bother to find Alexander Lukashenko on it, as he stands in the most visible and prestigious first row, together with the most crucial participants of the summit, specified as King Charles III, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, Italian Prime Minister Sandra Meloni, UN Secretary General António Guterres, president Emmanuel Macron and president of the COP28 Sultan Al Jaber Summit.
In little exposed places, behind the first row, is Ursula von der Leyen and president of the European Council Charles Michel.
The UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who was placed far behind, did not have reasons to be satisfied either.
It is not known what place was expected for Andrzej Duda, but I fishy that they would not be better than what Rishi Sunaka was set on.
One may not put much importance on where the place was placed, but this shows that our Polish conviction that Alexander Lukashenko is any pariah, not accepted anywhere in the world, is not true.
It is besides very amazing how Lukashenko, who appeared to be completely dominated by Putin after events in Belarus in 2020, now seems to have returned to her own politics and this year met with China's leader Xi Jinping twice. Xi most likely doesn't waste time dating people who don't mean anything.
And the example of COP28 shows that there are specified global circles, and it is very important, where Lukashenko does not boycott, and on the contrary, honors him with the allocation of a prestigious place.
So it is with Russia. Minister Sergey Lavrow is present in the UN in fresh York without hindrance, where he holds the UN safety Council Summit. It has late attended a gathering of the Ministerial Council of the Organisation for safety and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
And here too, due to the presence of Lavrov, the summit was boycotted by Poland, Ukraine and the Baltic countries.
Is specified a boycott an effective political tool? possibly it would be if many another countries behaved similarly. Unfortunately, the support, and so possibly understanding, for specified actions, is not seen among our allies from NATO and the EU either.
Not even the Prime Minister of Estonia Kaja Kallas joined the boycott of this “family” photograph with Lukashenko.
And what could endanger specified boycotting of contacts with neighbouring countries if specified a practice became a regular of our policy?
Isolating ourselves and avoiding contact, we are at hazard that crucial issues, including ours, will be established in negotiations without our participation, and their details, which may be very unpleasant to us, will only be communicated to us. This has happened many times in our history. We should remember that.
