Former pimp Karol Nawrocki presently presidential candidate, formally performs as a citizen candidate, but enjoys the full support of the Law and Justice organization (PiS). Despite this, PiS president Jarosław Kaczyński is not besides active in his campaign. Why? Prof. Rafal Chwedoruk, a political scientist, in a conversation with “Fakt” suggests that this is simply a deliberate strategy to avoid liability for a possible failure.
On intent distance or cover?
– I think this is any form of deliberate choice and cover," says Prof. Rafał Chwedoruk. In his opinion, the distance between Kaczyński and Nawrocki's run is due to fear of mediocre candidate performance. – As for the poll results of this candidate in the first round, the level of his support does not exceed what the PiS has in organization studies. This means that even the most faithful voters of the organization are not mobilized to vote for him," explains the political scientist.
Prof. Chwedoruk notes that specified a maneuver gives PiS the chance to retreat from support for Nawrocki in the event of a candidate with better ratings. – I think this is simply a conscious decision of president Kaczyński. Nobody wants to be the face of a possible failure," he adds.
Controversy around Nawrocki: a consequence to the words of the priest
Karol Nawrocki's run is not free from controversy. During the gathering with the inhabitants of Ciechanov, the parish priest of the parish there, Fr Jan Józwiak, gave his support, but in a way that sparked discussion. What has prof. Dudek got on you? I advise you to measurement him with a right hand or left as you meet him," said Fr Józwiak, referring to the critical words of Prof. Antoni Dudek, who described Nawrocki as "one of the more dangerous people in the Polish public space."
After these words, a message appeared on the profile of Our woman of Fatima Parish in Ciechanów, in which Fr Józwiak apologized to prof. Dudek, explaining that his words were "portal". Prof. Dudek accepted the apology, but pointed out that Nawrocki's reaction was more important. Karol Nawrocki had 2 reactions to choose from. He may have approved the words of the priest or disapproval. His choice speaks a lot about his actual face – the political scientist assessed.
The real face of politics?
Prof. Antoni Dudek points out that Nawrocki tries to present as a warm and sympathetic man, but in confrontational situations he shows a different face. “When it comes to confronting a circumstantial situation, it shows a somewhat different face. And I think it should give a lot to think about," said prof. Dudek.
So is it just insurance, or is it a conscious strategy to avoid liability for a possible failure? According to prof. Chwedoruk, this is the second option. “In the event of a disaster, specified tactics besides give the anticipation to retreat the candidate,” concludes the political scientist.
In the context of the upcoming elections, both the PiS strategy and Karol Nawrocki's reactions to controversy can have a crucial impact on the results of the vote. Can Nawrocki convince voters, or will his run fail? Time will tell.
