Nine Afghan citizens who illegally crossed the border from Belarus to Poland were detained by officers of the Nadbuzhian Border defender Branch. The intent of the migrants was to travel to Germany, but their journey interrupted modern detection systems, installed along the Bug River.

The detention took place in the territory of Włodawski. Officers of the NOSG Supervisory Centre, observing the site utilizing devices forming part of the electronic barrier, noted a group of people drifting distant from the river line. The Border defender patrol from the Dołhobrods Station, supported by soldiers of the Territorial defence Army, was immediately deployed. As a result, 9 men were found who had previously crossed the river by a pontoon boat, violating border law.

After being detained, migrants were transported to the Border Guard's service premises. There they were given the essential help, providing food and water. Their wellness was good, they didn't require medical intervention. During the operation, officers confirmed the identity of the detainees — all of whom are Afghan citizens. Men admitted to illegally crossing the border and declared that their goal was to travel to Germany.

In accordance with the applicable regulations, all detainees made decisions to leave the territory of the Republic of Poland. Since the beginning of the year, officers of the Nadbuża Border defender Branch have prevented illegal crossing the border from crossing the border already over a 1000 people trying to get to Poland from the Belarusian direction.

The electronic barrier along the Bug River is 1 of the key elements of the safety of the east border of the country. It is about 172 kilometres long and is entirely within NOSG operating range. The strategy includes about 1900 poles with cameras, 5,000 day-night cameras and thermal cameras, as well as specialized motion recording sensors and another physical features of objects. All data is transmitted to the NOSG Supervisory Center in Chełma, where 24/7 monitoring is conducted.

The case from the territory of Włodawski shows the effectiveness of this strategy in preventing illegal migration and protecting the east border of Poland and the full European Union.
