The Chief Sanitary Inspectorate (GIS) issued respective warnings on dangerous food products that may pose a hazard to the wellness of consumers in Poland. Here are the details of any of these warnings:

1. Listeria monocytogenes in pig meat

  • Product: Dried meat product Pečenica, 90 g, brand DOBRO.
  • Lot number: 24-00807.
  • Minimum durability date: 03.08.201224.
  • Manufacturer: ŽITO d.o.o., Osijek, Croatia.
  • Hazard: Detection of Listeria monocytogenes, which can lead to food poisoning and a dangerous illness called listeriosis. Listeriosis symptoms may include fever, muscle pain, and in more severe cases may lead to serious wellness complications.

2. Dangerous meat products

  • Beef burgers from Lidla: 1 batch of beef burgers identified a risk, with a date of consumption until 29 March 2024.

3. Strawberries from Morocco and vegetable salad

  • Strawberries from Morocco: Hepatitis A virus has been detected.
  • Vegetable salad from Polo Market: It contained Salmonella bacteria.

4. Patulina in Lidel juice

  • Hazard: In fruit smoothie advanced levels of patulin, a toxin produced by mold, which can origin tummy problems, vomiting, nausea, diarrhoea, apathy, fatigue, blood clotting disorders, headaches, dizziness and breathing problems have been detected.

5. metallic in cookies

  • Products: Cookies from Netto and K-Classic from Kaufland.
  • Problem: Customers reported metallic in cakes produced in December 2023.

6. Salmonella in a shack

  • Manufacturer: Elis Ali Eski, 32 Gdynia Street, Tuchom.
  • Contaminated lots:
  • Cocoa challah, 5 kg; Lot No: 12.09/2; Minimum durability date: 12.03.2025.
  • K-Classic Salva sesame flavoured vanilla 100 g; lot number: 12.10/1K; minimum durability date: 12.04.2025.
  • Hazard: Salmonella spp. which can origin diarrhoea, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting and dehydration. In utmost cases, it can lead to death.

What to do if you buy a product at risk?

  • Avoid consumption: If you have purchased products covered by GIS warnings, avoid eating them.
  • Return Product: You can return the product at the place of acquisition and receive a refund. No receipt is required for Kaufland products.
  • Monitor Health: If you experience symptoms of poisoning or infection, consult your doctor.

How to Prevent Infection?

  • Safe preparation of meals: Take care of hygiene while preparing food.
  • Food storage: Keep the products in suitable conditions, e.g. eggs on the mediate shelf in the refrigerator.
  • Avoid re-freezing meat: This can lead to the improvement of bacteria.
  • Maintaining hygiene: Wash your hands thoroughly after preparing natural products.

The GIS continues to monitor the situation and will inform the public if essential of fresh threats. Be careful and follow updates to guarantee your household and yourself are safe.
