On Wednesday, March 27, 2024, Prime Minister Donald Tusk gave an exposé to the government in the Polish Parliament – this speech was to precede a vote of assurance for his government. This is 1 of the key moments of Poland's political life, which allowed to measure the state of readiness of the government coalition and the announcement of actions for the coming months. However, the most crucial thing was that Members of the Law and Justice did not participate in the debate, leaving empty benches on their side of the plenary.

During the full speech by Prime Minister Donald Tusk, no of the chief representatives of Law and Justice appeared in the plenary area of the Sejm. any of them virtually left the area just after the head of government began. specified conduct can be considered a symbolic motion of boycott, both political and media.
The Prime Minister referred to this during his speech, saying:
“I ask the advanced home to give a vote of assurance to our government for rather apparent reasons.”
Tusk: “I do not know a word like surrender”
Donald Tusk's speech marked determination and emotionality. The Prime Minister did not hide the difficulties that await the government coalition during the next 2.5 years of his word of office. He stressed that despite the results of the presidential elections and the changing political situation, the government would fulfil its commitments.
"There is no earthquake, but let us call it a name: we are going to have 2.5 years of very hard, serious work in conditions that will not change for the better," Tusk said.
His declaration besides deserves attention:
"I know the taste of triumph and the bitterness of defeat, but I do not know the word 'capitalization'. No way.”
These words are a clear signal that the government intends to proceed its activities despite possible political and social barriers.
Questioning the legality of elections and responding to laughter from the Chamber
Donald Tusk besides raised the question of possible irregularities in the electoral process, calling for a fair handling of any complaints:
"I will appeal to all institutions liable for controlling the conduct and recognising the legality of the elections, so that they will measure all signals of irregularities or risks of counterfeiting very accurately (...)."
Following these words, he heard any Members laughing. He immediately responded:
"I don't realize the laughter of that name. You're laughing at those 10 million people who have a right today. You know what? Actually, you laughter at all the voters.”
Such an exchange shows the tense atmosphere in the parliamentary plenary area and the deep division between the current government and the largest opposition party.
Inverse propaganda: “Propaganda cannot be more crucial than truth”
Prime Minister Tusk stated that the government would not be guided by propaganda, but by facts. He asked the ministers to present the most crucial achievements of the coalition:
"I have asked the ministers to remind me of the most crucial achievements, (...) so that I can correct this message from the opposition that small has been done."
But he added with a smile:
“And I got a fewer twelve pages, even though I asked for the largest possible shortcut.”
This conviction was met with general amusement, but at the same time showed that the government wanted to counterattack imagery against increasing criticism.
Who was Tusk addressing? To coalitions, to society – and to the President
The Prime Minister straight addressed his coalitions, reminding them that presidential elections cannot be an excuse to limit engagement in the implementation of the government programme:
"The consequence of the elections does not reduce, does not slow down, does not justify anyone who believes that the presidential elections have changed the constitutional rules and that we have little work than today."
He pointed out that it was Constitution and electoral mandate is the foundation of government action, not short-term political developments.
Will the expedition affect the result of the vote of confidence?
The vote of assurance for Donald Tusk's government was held on the same day. Although the parliamentary majority is stable, this speech was symbolic – it showed leadership, strength of arguments and readiness to fight politically.
As expected, Government received a vote of confidence, although any opposition clubs abstained or voted against.
Summary: exposure as a test of coherence and reliability
