EasyJet Flight Diverted

An EasyJet (U2) flight U2 2148 departed Dalaman Airport around 11:00 PM local time en route to Manchester (MAN).

Approximately one hour into the flight, a female passenger allegedly began running down the aisle, shouting about a bomb and declaring that the plane was “going down.”

Her behavior escalated when she reportedly ripped off the emergency door handle cover and attempted to open the exit door mid-flight.

According to reports, other passengers intervened quickly, wrestling the woman away from the door.

Cabin crew then secured her at the rear of the aircraft and informed passengers of an emergency diversion.

The aircraft landed safely at Frankfurt Airport (FRA) at approximately 2:30 a.m. local time. The disruptive passenger was handed over to local authorities upon arrival.

The incident was first reported by the Manchester Evening News, highlighting the seriousness of mid-air safety threats and the prompt response by both passengers and crew.

Overnight Delay in Frankfurt

Following the emergency landing, passengers faced additional delays due to Frankfurt Airport’s overnight curfew regulations.

With limited ground handling support available, many passengers remained onboard the aircraft longer than expected before disembarkation.

EasyJet stated that the overnight delay was unavoidable, and accommodations were limited due to hotel availability.

Passengers were provided with refreshment vouchers, and some had to stay inside the terminal until onward travel arrangements were made.

The flight eventually continued on to Manchester, arriving on the afternoon of May 25 at approximately 1:40 PM.

The airline reiterated that disruptive or threatening behavior is not tolerated under any circumstances.

“EasyJet’s highest priority is the safety and well-being of its customers and crew,” a spokesperson said.

Passengers praised the crew and fellow travelers who helped de-escalate the situation and ensure that the flight landed safely without further incident.
