Delta’s Route Updates – Summer 2025

Central America Route Cuts

Delta is discontinuing two routes from Los Angeles (LAX) to Central America due to low demand:

  • LAX – San Salvador (SAL): Last flight on May 4, 2025
  • LAX – Guatemala City (GUA): Last flight on May 5, 2025

Despite these cancellations, Delta will continue serving these destinations via its Atlanta (ATL) hub, while competitors United, Alaska, Avianca, and Volaris will maintain direct LAX-Central America services.

West Coast Route Restorations

Delta is reintroducing seasonal and year-round routes on the West Coast:

  • LAX – Anchorage (ANC): Weekly non-stop flights return May 24, 2025 – Aug 30, 2025
    • Aircraft: Boeing 737-900ER
    • Schedule: Saturdays only
    • Competing Airline: Alaska Airlines
  • Las Vegas (LAS) – San Jose (SJC): Daily service returns on June 8, 2025
    • Aircraft: Embraer 175 (Delta Connection)
    • Competing Airlines: Alaska, Frontier, Spirit, United, Southwest

New Long-Haul Route: LAX – Melbourne

Delta is launching a new Los Angeles (LAX) – Melbourne (MEL) route starting December 2025:

  • Aircraft: Airbus A350-900
  • Frequency: 3x per week
  • Estimated annual capacity: 86,000 seats
  • Schedule:
    • LAX-MEL: Departs 9:25 PM, arrives 8:15 AM (+2 days)
    • MEL-LAX: Departs 10:25 AM, arrives 6:10 AM (same day)

This expansion enhances competition with Qantas and other transpacific carriers while providing seamless U.S. connections through Delta’s LAX hub.
