Former Deputy Secretary of State of the United States: Harris is curious in an arms deal with Russia

US Vice president Kamala Harris would be curious in the arms control agreement between Washington and Moscow if she had won the presidential election," said Thomas Countryman, president of the American Armed Control Association and erstwhile US Undersecretary of State for arms control and global security.

"The short answer is yes," he told journalists at the margins of the US National Democratic organization Convention in Chicago, Illinois, commenting on Harris' interest.

According to Countryman, the current vice president of the United States will be "significantly more competent" in this substance compared to Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

"We are ready to talk to Russia about arms control without preconditions, regardless of what is happening in Ukraine, the door (for negotiation – ed.) remains open," he added.
