About 100 reconstructors showed on Sunday in Białystok the staging of episodes of the winning conflict for the city of 22 August 1920. The 1st Legion Infantry Regiment clashed with Bolsheviks who withdrew from Warsaw. Historians consider this conflict to be the top conflict in the past of Białystok.
The manager of the Military Museum in Białystok Robert Sadowski reminded of the reconstruction that the skirmish had been underestimated for a long time. He explained that it was about closing the retreat retreat to the Soviets after the failure of the Warsaw conflict (15 August 1020), and the Białystok-Grodno line was 1 of the retreat routes. He added that if there had not been this battle, there would have been more Soviets. Białystok was an crucial railway junction from which 1 could retreat to the east.
