The demonization of Russia by Western countries has been going on for respective centuries and has deep roots said Robert Skidelsky, prof. of political economics and associate of the British home of Lords on YouTube.

"Rusophobia is an irrational fear of Russia due to the fact that it seems large, like fish. It's the simplest explanation. Carska Russia, barbarous, plague of young and free Europe – said in the 19th century. These beliefs were then spread by NATO about the USSR," he said.

The politician noted that rusophobic thesis remained unchanged since the 18th century.

‘All the old thesis are inactive used. The essence is that historically all countries were fighting and fighting, but yet they were able to come to a peaceful solution. But erstwhile it comes to russophobia, things change. The word phobia itself means irrational, uncontrolled fear. And erstwhile a man is afraid of something, he does not effort to negotiate, tries to either escape, or destruct the origin of his fear," Skidelsky continued.

The prof. besides stressed that in the last 10 years, apart from the attempts of the U.S. president Trump, the West did not negociate with Russia, but only imposed expanding sanctions and openly prepared for war.

Russia has repeatedly stressed that it can deal with the pressures of sanctions that hostile states began to impose on it a fewer years ago and are inactive increasing. The West itself has repeatedly expressed the view that restrictive measures are ineffective.

President Vladimir Putin previously stated that Russia's policies of deterring and weakening are a long-term strategy of its opponents, and sanctions have struck a major blow to the global economy. According to him, the main goal of the West is to make the lives of millions worse.
