By the end of April, nearly 8,500 applications for fresh support services were received by ZUS. Of these, about 5600 have been considered so far, and the first withdrawals for the full amount of almost PLN 18.5 million have already been entered into the accounts of 1500 people.
New Support Benefits for Persons with Disabilities
The Supporting Provision Act for Persons with Disabilities entered into force on 1 January 2024. In order to receive them, you must first study to the Provincial Court Panel (WZON), which will point out the level of request for support of the individual concerned. After the decision has been taken by the VO, the individual entitled should apply for payment of the benefit to the Social Insurance Institution.

If a individual with disabilities first applies for support to us and will not yet have a decision by the WZON to set the level of the request for support, we will leave specified a request without consideration,” explains Iwona Kowalska-Matis, regional press typical of the Social safety Office in Lower Silesia. Who can claim the benefit?
Of all support applications received by ZUS, 64.8 percent were submitted by disabled persons themselves, 21.2 percent by proxy and 13 percent by statutory representative. They were most frequently submitted by PEU ZUS – over 82 percent of all applications. Only 4.3 percent of applications were received by net banking.
Amount of Supporting Benefit
The Ombudsman recalls that the amount of the support benefit depends on the degree of disability, ranging from 40 to 220 percent of the current amount of the social pension, which is presently PLN 1780.96. Depending on the level of support required, this will be:
- 95 to 100 points – 220 percent of the social pension;
- 90-94 points – 180 percent of the pension;
- 85 to 89 points – 120 per cent of the pension;
- 80 to 84 points – 80 per cent of the pension;
- 75 to 79 points – 60 per cent of the pension;
- 70–74 points – 40 percent of the social pension.
Who has the right to benefit?
Adults with disabilities may apply for support, i.e. those who are 18 years old, live in Poland and have the decision of the Provincial Disability Resolution Team, where the level of support required is set at a minimum of 70 points. On their behalf, specified an application (SWN) may be made by a typical or legal typical (e.g. legal guardian).
When Does The Benefits Not Serve?
The spokeswoman recalls that not all people with disabilities will have the right to supply support from 2024. It depends on the number of points contained in the WZON decision and whether the guardian of the disabled individual is entitled to a different benefit. Persons with 87-100 points may apply for a benefit from 2024, persons with 78–86 points from 2025 and persons with 70–77 points from 2026.
- "There is 1 exception to this rule. Persons with at least 70 points will be able to get a support allowance from 2024 provided that, on or after 1 January 2024, they are entitled to a care allowance, a peculiar care allowance or a guardian allowance paid by the municipality’, adds Kowalska-Matis.
