Students of the Catholic University of Lublin protested against the joint celebration of Hanukkah and Advent, which took place at the university in December of last year. The ceremonies organized at the KUL were attended by the cantor Szymcha Keller and Bishop Mieczysław Cisło.

The opposition of the students of the Catholic University of Lublin was expressed by issuing an authoritative protest letter, which was sent to the Rector and Chancellor of the university. In addition to students, it was besides signed by graduates and academics teaching at the KUL. The protest letter indicated that the joint celebrations of Hanukkah and Catholic Advent are “a origin of stumbling.”

The case was reported by the portal of the magazine "The ultimate Time", which published fragments of the appeal addressed to the Rector and Chancellor of the Catholic University of Lublin.

"We students, doing this besides in the interest of saving the eternal lives of all our students' colleagues and trying to prevent further stumbling, express outrage and find it unacceptable that at Catholic university these 2 celebrations should be aligned, utilizing dangerous narratives contrary to the truths of religion and syncretism, thus creating an atmosphere of spiritual indifference at our university," wrote the letter which the students signed, but was supported by graduates and KUL scientists.

The authors of the protest letter besides pointed out that the work for peace between people cannot be considered to be of higher value than “the sanctity of our religion and its supernatural nature.” It was besides noted that religion in Jesus Christ has a supernatural dimension. It was pointed out that Christianity has a universal and exclusive saving capacity for all man.

"In the justification of this kind of undertaking, we consider especially perfidious the mention of Hanukkah apologets to the alleged participation in the Chanukic celebrations of the individual of our Blessed Savior, due to the fact that there is no origin at all to prove specified a fact. Furthermore, Christ's sacrifice nullified temple worship, establishing Christian worship, and at the same time committed all—including Jews—to receive baptism in the name of the Father, the boy and the Holy Spirit for the remission of sins," the appeal said.
