Franz-Josef Overbeck has been head of Essen diocese in the west of the country since 2011. He is simply a strong supporter of the improvement of the German Synod Way, supporting its full progressive agenda. At the beginning of 2025 he besides became celebrated for his sermon, in which he spoke of modern atheists, suggesting that Catholics should accept their decision of infidelity and do not gotta think feverishly about converting specified persons.
Franz-Josef Overbeck is 61 years old, so he inactive has a comparatively long ecclesiastical career ahead of him.
