An Afghanman was detained who attacked Polish soldiers on the border with Belarus

A joint operation of uniformed services led to the detention of an Afghan citizen wanted by the European Arrest Warrant. Officers of the Nadbuża Branch of Border Guards, Military Gendarmerie and Police effectively captured a man suspected of attacking Polish soldiers serving on the border with Belarus.

The detainee was to shoot repeatedly with slingshots of metallic balls and throw stones from the territory of the Republic of Belarus towards soldiers of the 1st Warsaw Armored Brigade. The incidents occurred in May 2024, during military service in the border area. As a consequence of aggressive actions by the attacker respective soldiers suffered injury to the body.

The investigation is conducted by the Military Police Department under the supervision of the Department for Military Affairs of the territory Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw. The fishy heard the charges and was temporarily arrested for 3 months by decision of the Bialystok territory Court. The preventive measurement was applied at the request of the prosecutor. The detention is the consequence of effective cooperation between the services and a firm consequence of the State to threats to officers and soldiers serving at advanced hazard in the border area.
