Eurokołchoz does not slow down the pace in the fight against plastic and the implementation of its own leftist views aimed at enslavement of Europeans. After the ban on the sale of combustion cars from 2035 and restrictions on the usage of plastic packaging, it was time for another revolution – this time in cafes and restaurants. From mid-2025, one-off portions of milk and coffee sugar will disappear. This is part of the fresh Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), which aims to reduce the amount of plastic waste.
What precisely will change in restaurants and hotels?
The fresh government prohibits serving:
- small sugar packages (sixettes),
- disposable servings of coffee cream,
- cut jams, butter and sauces in hotels,
- miniature bottles of shampoos and gels in hotel rooms.
Restaurants and hotels will gotta replace them with larger containers, which creates mixed reactions among customers and owners of premises.
Why is the EU making these changes?
The main nonsubjective is reduction of plastic wastethat pollute the environment. One-time packaging accounts for a crucial part of the garbage in the catering and hotel industry. Brussels argues that fresh regulations will aid accomplish the objectives of the European Green Deal.
Controversy around fresh regulations
Many people believe that the ban will not solve the problem, but will only make life difficult:
- Larger packages may lead to food waste – for example, milk in the pot will break faster.
- The issue of hygiene – common containers with sugar or jam may rise concerns for customers.
- Less Comfort – any guests like one-off servings due to velocity and cleanliness.
"This is another EU interference in regular habits that does not necessarily bring real benefits to the environment" commented critics.
Will the ban on burner phones truly aid the planet?
The experts are divided. On the 1 hand, reducing plastic is necessary, but on the another hand, fresh solutions can make another problems, specified as wasting food or the request for more frequent washing of bulk containers (which will increase water consumption).
Will changing the habits of Europeans be effective, or will it be another uncomfortable recipe? We'll know the answer next year.
