Prison workers protested in the capital.
According to Tysol.pl portal, the National Prison Manifestation took place in Warsaw today. Protesters demonstrated by the Chancellery of the Prime Minister of Poland, the seat of the Ministry of Justice and the building of the Sejm. They demanded that employment conditions be improved and that the promises they received long ago be fulfilled.
President of the National Council of the Prison Service Section of the NSZZ “Solidarity” Andrzej Kołodziejski said that the formation is “unrated”. In his opinion, there are 2,500 employees in the ministry. This means that employees request to take many overtime – by year they are 2 million hours. Another issue is low wages, which are not only unfavourable to workers, but besides make this profession not adequate attracts fresh people.
Protesters besides pay attention to the deficiency of housing allowance for Prison Service personnel, i.e. people who are transferred to different locations of the country according to staff needs. specified an addition has been promised for a long time, and the Ministry of Justice has undertaken to introduce it in agreement with the unions, concluded on 13 March 2025. Since then, the promise has not been fulfilled. Unioners feel cheated.
