Russian-Ukrainian War (as of morning 05.02.2026):
- New attacks of drones and rockets on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure — power grids, housing and industrial facilities — aggravates the winter conditions of the population, especially in large cities like Kiev and Kharkiv. Especially severe was the rocket strike in the electrical substation in Nalywajkiwka west of Kiev, which was liable for the transfer to the power capital from the power station in Plain.
- On the Zaporosian section, the Russians captured a very crucial defensive position in the village of Staroukrainka. This allows you to wing the well-defended Illusionary.
- Under Kostiantinivka, Russian forces entered Ilinivka, and after mastering Stepanivka, they approach north, towards Rozkiszne.
- On the Liman section, Ukrainians were displaced in the village of Stawki.
- Russian shelling with cluster ammunition and air bombs hit a marketplace in the Ukrainian-controlled town of Druzzkiwka in the Donetsk Oblast. Min. 7 killed and 8 wounded – victims are mostly civilians, including chance residents close the market.
- Ukraine and Russia began the second circular of trilateral, American-Mediated peace talks in the United arabian Emirates. The first day was assessed as "productive", although key disputes – including territorial ones – stay unresolved.
Policy context: Negotiations take place despite ongoing intense fighting and scepticism about real advancement and with the active participation of US mediators.
