Last week the European Commission published "A imagination for agriculture and food. Joint improvement of an attractive agricultural and agri-food sector for future generations". This paper sets ambitions for the EU agricultural strategy by 2040, taking into account external challenges and conditions. There is not a single word there that direct payments will be liquidated.
"The EC plans to change direct payments that are not as uniform as they are presently (greater targeting, simplification for tiny and medium-sized farms and greater function of degressiveness/capturing of payments)" – claims in his first analysis of the aforementioned paper of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Government of Tusk.
It seems that Solidarity farmers are lying, or we are being misled by the EC and the Tusk government again. We'll see. It seems that flooding Europe with food from Mercosur and Ukraine will lead to the demolition of local agriculture, whether subsidies will or will not.
