British Deputy Prime Minister and Housing Minister Angela Rayner called on Finance Minister Rachel Reeves to collect kid benefit from middle-class families as part of an effort to patch the gap in the country's budget “ says Telegraph, citing an interior document.
"The Telegraph learned that Angela Rayner had called on Rachel Reeves to take kid benefit from middle-class families. The Deputy Prime Minister requested that the Ministry of the Treasury ‘remove’ benefits from households where the wage of the best paid individual was between £50,000 and £80,000’, the issue states.
It has been noted that Rayner's proposals go far beyond her competence and point to a conflict for power in the government, which aims to reduce spending alternatively of raising taxes to fill the black gap in the country's finances.
In January, the publication reported that Britain plans to cut billions of pounds of disability benefits as an alternate to taxation increases under the government's budget plan.
